We’re going to discuss one specific social proof technic — notifications on recent in-store events (like purchases) many of those shops use to create the FOMO effect.
You can reasonably ask if those annoying pop-ups still work in 2021. And believe me or not, it works and produces impressive results increasing conversion by 2–3% on average.
So, how not to be mistaken with the service choice, not overpay, and get all the needed features?
Here we’re looking at plugins at services that work with or have been designed particularly for WooCommerce.
There’re two options available on the market to leverage social proof for the WooCommerce store: native WP\Woo plugins and external services. Each of those methods comes with its pros and cons. So let’s dig deeper into and figure out the 10 best social proof solutions for WooCommerce.
Social Proof for WooCommerce
Download: Official WooCommerce marketplace, Pricing: $79 billed annually, Instructions: View documentation
The first thing that pops into mind when it comes to WooCommerce plugins is the official WooCommerce marketplace. The greatest benefit from plugins there is that each plugin goes through strict vetting and code review to make sure the code meet all standards and won’t harm your project in any way. In addition to that, you can be certain that you’ll get the necessary support and money refund if anything goes wrong.
And of course, we can find the Social Proof for WooCommerce plugin there, designed precisely for our needs. It has a simple and user-friendly interface, saves every social proof event to your database, utilizes a default WordPress customizer to adjust the pop-up design, and has many built-in customizations for social proof behavior. Like, you can define when and for how long notifications will be displayed, on what pages, exclude them on the mobile version, or exclude specific users from seeing pop-ups and enable\disable option to close pop-ups by clients.
Social Proof for WooCommerce gives you leverage on three types of events:
- New purchases (you can decide what order status to be considered)
- Added-to-cart products (tracks users actions on-site and displays notification immediately)
- Product reviews (draws attention to reviews recently left by users)
The most remarkable feature is Smart targeting which helps you track what products the potential customer already visited and bring him back, displaying related social proofs. Furthermore, besides purchases and added-to-cart products, the plugin displays notifications on recent product reviews.
And alongside actual live events, you can create fake ones to drive attention to some specific products.
Features | Social Proof for WooCommerce | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | Unlimited | Records every event in the store |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Full control over those events list |
Added-to-cart products | ✔️ | |

Customizable message | ✔️ | For every type of social proof |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Live customizer |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Triggers, delay, max pop-ups, close button, etc |
Money back | 30 days | Secured by WooCommerce |
Advantages: Three types of social proof (new orders, added-to-cart products, and product reviews), fake events, smart targeting, and the fact that it’s specially designed for WooCommerce w/ all essential features to customize notifications according to your needs.
Limitations: Lack of instruments to measure social proof efficiency.
TrustPulse
Download: TrustPulse website, Pricing: $5–$39 monthly, Instructions: Docs
TrustPulse is a trustworthy service that integrates with your website through the WordPress plugin. It works not only for WooCommerce stores but Membership sites as well. With it, you can display two types of notifications:
- Recent sales (means new order created)
- On fire notifications (like how many users are on this page at the moment)
It’s easy to get confused with pricing since the plugin is placed on wordpress.org for free. But the only thing the plugin actually does is connecting your website to the TrustPulse service, which costs from $5 to $39 per month and depends on traffic volume and other features depending on the plan. E.g., if you have more than 2,5k monthly traffic, the Basic plan won’t work for you. And if you want to get rid of TrustPulse branding, you need to pay not less than $39/month.
Features | TrustPulse | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | from 2.5k to 100k | Recent purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ❌ | |
Analytics\stats | ✔️ | Track and measure conversion goals |
Workspace | External | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Customize the message, colors, images, and more |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Timed-Display Control |
Money back | 14 days | From their support |
Advantages: Simple one-click integration through the plugin, clean pop-ups design, and real-time tracking.
Limitations: Not enough WooCommerce-related functions (no pages/users restriction, notification behavior, lack of control on the events database, and so on). High pricing compared to other services on this list. Low max traffic volume (100k this is the limit) and essentially, Basic plans are useless. You’d at least need to pay $19/month (for 25k visitors) or $39/month (to remove their branding from your pop-ups).
Nudgify
Download: Nudgify website, Pricing: $1–$99 monthly, Instructions: Docs
Nudgify is another SaaS that works with many platforms (incl Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce, and others). It has the same integration plugin on wordpress.org that connects you to their service, where everything takes place. While other services struggle to offer you more than simple purchases feed, Nudgify goes beyond and proposes you:
- Recent activity nudges (after order created)
- Popularity nudges (display how many people have viewed a product)
- Trustpilot and Google Review nudges (connect review services and display reviews to your customers)
Yet since this is a service built for few platforms and connects to other 3rd party products, you may require more WooCommerce focused features. For example, you don’t have complete control over events that happened in your store; you cannot create fake events or configure specific behavior that would fit your goals and theme design.
Features | Nudgify | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | from 2k to 1 mil | Recent purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ✔️ | Not from the store, but external review services |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ❌ | |
Analytics\stats | ✔️ | |
Workspace | External | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | Use your own images and emojis, add custom variables |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Pre-built templates |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Display time, trigger and delay |
Money back | 14 days | From their support |
Advantages: It has wide integration with review providers and other tools (like Mailchimp, Intercom, and Salesforce) and comes with its own API to connect with.
Limitations: The WordPress plugin does nothing except connect you to the Nudgify app and doesn’t provide customization tools for pop-ups.
Pricing is another concern. Basic plans ($0.99 and $9 per month) limit you to 2k and 10k visitors per month, and you still cannot remove their branding. You’re able to remove the Nudgify promo from pop-ups only for $29 or $89 per month (w/ 100k and 1 million displays accordingly).
WooCommerce Notification
Download: Codecanyon marketplace, Pricing: $30for 6 months, Instructions: Docs
It’s a native WordPress plugin from Codecanyon marketplace. Codecanyon is much different from the WooCommerce marketplace, so placing there doesn’t imply any support or refund warranty. In addition to that, you should pay extras to extend updates and support up to 12 months.
In other areas, the WooCommerce notification plugin is much alike Social proof for WooCommerce with few exceptions. It works only with purchases, whilst the plugin from the official marketplace works with added-to-cart products and product reviews.
Features | WooCommerce Notification | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | Unlimited | Records purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Select order status to show |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ✔️ | Create fake orders |

Analytics\stats | ❌ | |
Workspace | Native wp-admin area | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | With shortcodes |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Few themes to choose |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Delay time and loop time |
Money back | 14 days | By dispute w/ author on Codecanyon |
Advantages: Goes with WPML and Polylang support in case you need to display notifications in several languages. However, it comes at a fair price comparing to what the plugin proposes.
Limitations: Only one type of notification, overcomplicated interface with pretty basic features.
WooBought
Download: Studiowombat website, Pricing: $39–$99billed annually, Instructions: Docs
WooBought is one more native WordPress plugin that doesn’t require any integrations. It helps you increase conversion by notifying visitors of recent purchases on your store (the only type of social proof for this plugin).
Since it’s not an external service but a native plugin, it gives you more possibilities to interact with WordPress itself. For instance, you can hide notifications on certain pages, utilize information about stock status, and choose the type of thumbnail to use as a product picture.
Nonetheless, WooBought doesn’t provide you with advanced functions like fake events, smart targeting, or other events besides new orders.
Features | WooBought | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | Unlimited | Records purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Select order status to show |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ✔️ | |
Analytics\stats | ❌ | |
Workspace | Native wp-admin area | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | w/ some variables |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | 3 layouts, 3 sizes and positions, shadow, rounded corners |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Delay time, duration |

Advantages: Easy to set up plugin, with all the essential features to display recent sales.
Limitations: Pretty basic design settings don’t work with reviews or added-to-cart products and don’t provide you with analytics. The only place where you can find the plugin is the developer website, which doesn’t guarantee any support or money-back warranty.
NotificationX
Download: NotificationX website, Pricing: $39–$299billed annually, Instructions: Docs
NotificationX is presented in both free and paid versions, and the paid version offers almost everything you need. You can find few design layouts and customize them, you can craft custom messages for notifications, and even get analytics and UTM tags. It comes with several notification types:
- Sales notification (but you cannot define what order status would be used)
- Reviews and comments (if you’re actively blogging and want to attract attention to post w/ comments)
- Download stats (for specific platforms, like Freemius or EDD)
- Email subscription (if you integrate it w/ Mailchimp or ConvertKit)
Only a few features are missing here, like added-to-cart products notification and targeting options.

Advantages: Comes with a bunch of customizations of design and pop-ups on-page behavior and several notifications types. Has a free version, so you could try what to expect w/o spending a dollar.
Limitations: We didn’t find any proof of refund warranty, and it’s not presented on any famous marketplace to be covered by their policy. Also, you can find complaints on their support across the web.
Live Sales Notification
Download: WordPress.org, Pricing: Free, Instructions: Docs
Live Sales Notification is a free WordPress plugin developed by Beeketing. You may wonder why somebody wants to support a completely free plugin and not benefit from it. The thing is that this plugin is part of a more broad Beeketing ecosystem. And Beeketing is a marketing platform that integrates with ecommerce to offer extended functionality for dropshipping, affiliate, and upsells.
The plugin covers pretty basic social proof features, and then they offer you to try the other products to increase social proof impact.
So, what notifications you can expect to see:
- Sales data (auto-sync with your store orders to generate live sales feed)
- Fake sales notifications (which you can create manually)
That’s it. Unfortunately, there’s no other type of events supported, design options are quite limited as well (you can choose from 4 very similar layouts), but you still can set up some display options (randomize intervals, display time, max pop-ups per session, or restrict on mobiles).
Features | Live Sales Notification | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | Unlimited | Records purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ✔️ | Сan use only one type of events: fake or real ones |
Pages restriction | ❌ | |
Analytics\stats | ❌ | |
Workspace | External | |
Customizable message | ❌ | |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Few design templates |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Expiration time, display time, interval |
Money back | ❌ | Not mentioned |
Advantages: Despite the limitations, it can help you display orders feed, and if you were searching for something basic, you should give a chance to Live Sales Notification. Considering that the plugin is free, it may be a pretty good deal.
Limitations: It may be useless if you don’t commit to Beeketing’s entire ecosystem. Lack of settings, design options, content modifiers, and pretty basic notifications may not allow you to carry out everything you have in mind.
WPfomify
Download: Wpfomily website, Pricing: $99 per year, Instructions: Docs
WPformily is another WordPress plugin focused on various integrations. In addition to WooCommerce, it works with EDD, Freemius, Envato, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and a few more.
But here, we’re considering the benefits for WooCommerce. So what features are designed for Woo particularly?
- You can create time-limited offers besides default orders feed
- You can display feedbacks from various sources (if you know how to use Zapier and wish to integrate it with plugin)
- And you can notify users of recent activity on the website (like subscriptions if you integrate it with tools like Mailchimp)
UTM tags are also available to you, so you can use GA to measure social proofs performance. And it’s equally vital that you have control of who, when, and where sees the notifications.
Features | WPfomify | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | Unlimited | Recent purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Choose type of orders to include in the feed |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ✔️ | |
Analytics\stats | ✔️ | |
Workspace | Internal | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Color, font, design |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Expiration time, display time, interval |
Money back | 14 days | From their support |
Advantages: The plugin has a comprehensive list of available integrations if you feel that data from WooCommerce isn’t enough for achieving your goals.
Limitations: Complicated interface, you’d need to go through a lot of steps to configure one type of event. And since the plugin is self-hosted and isn’t represented on any of the reliable marketplaces, we don’t know what’s the situation with support and money-back warranty.
ProveSource
Download: ProveSource website, Pricing: $18-$91 per month, Instructions: Docs
ProveSource is a SaaS platform that integrates with WooCommerce, Shopify, Wix, and other ecommerce solutions. WordPress plugin placed on wp.org provides a connection between your website and the ProveSource platform. Following service has a few key advantages over competitors in the number of available notification types. You can use it to display:
- Number of visitors (those who visited website per X days, or live counter)
- Reviews from Google, Facebook, or Trustpilot
- Recent signups or purchases
- Custom information (like money-back warranty or any other info you wish to draw attention to)
Despite the number of integrations and variety of notification types, there’s a severe flaw of WooCommerce native features. For example, you cannot display native product reviews, recently added-to-cart products, or stock info.
Features | ProveSource | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | from 10k to 200k | Recent purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Choose type of orders to include in the feed |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ✔️ | |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ❌ | |
Analytics\stats | ✔️ | |
Workspace | External | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | Few templates for different type of events |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Few ready-made designs |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Control notifications display time, speed, delay and more |
Money back | 14 days | From their support |
Advantages: Variety of integrations, splendid design options, user-friendly interface.
Limitations: High price compared to competitors, basic plan cost $18/monthly w/ 10k visitors limitations and the branding you can’t get rid of. Whenever you want to remove ProveSource branding from pop-ups or have more than 10k visitors, you’d need to pay $45/monthly.
Fomo for WooCommerce
Download: Fomo website, Pricing: $19-$199 per month, Instructions: Docs
Fomo is one more service that helps you integrate social proof into your store. They promise to raise your CTR to 96%, which sounds insane, so we wouldn’t trust this statement, but a few percent gains are clearly possible.
It comes with only one type of notification — recent purchases. But service has an extensive API, so you can send any other data to create custom notifications.
It also has 97 integrations with services like Stripe, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, and so on.
Considering FOMO wasn’t exactly destined for WooCommerce users, you shouldn’t expect it to work as a native WP plugin with many customizations and behavior options.
Features | ProveSource | Notes |
---|---|---|
Notifications limit | from 25k to 3m | Recent purchases |
Recent Sales | ✔️ | Display Specific Orders |
Added-to-cart products | ❌ | |
New Review | ❌ | |
Fake sales notifications | ❌ | |
Pages restriction | ✔️ | Custom page rules |
Analytics\stats | ✔️ | |
Workspace | External | |
Customizable message | ✔️ | Patent-pending unlimited message permutations |
Adjustable design | ✔️ | Theme builder |
Behavior settings | ✔️ | Random delay, display time |
Money back | ❌ | Not mentioned |
Advantages: API support to build custom notifications and A/B testing (in the most expensive plan), unlimited websites, and numerous integrations.
Limitations: As in the previous case, it’s a bit expensive for everyday usage. Certainly, here you can expect white-label (no FOMO branding) from $19/month, but it only comes with 25k notifications (not visitors), which may not be enough even for a small business. So expect to pay from $39 to at least $79 (or even $199) per month to engage all of your potential customers.
Final thoughts
Those are not a complete list of plugins/services you can find online to create social proof for your WooCommerce store, but we chose the best of them, so you don’t need to waste your time. We cannot decide for you which of these to choose because it depends on your business, goals, and budget. We just want to give you some tips at the end to help you make a decision.
We advise you to pick up some of the services only when you have a few websites on different platforms, or you need to make a connection to services like Mailchimp or so. Otherwise, native WordPress/WooCommerce plugins give you more options to set up social proof notifications in the way it works for you.
If the plugin goes with adjustable pop-up designs, you can make it look native to your store, which would be difficult to do with external service.
Pay attention to what behavior settings and message templates are available to you. It may seem like a small thing, but the shortage of simple settings like the option to disable pop-ups may ruin the relationship with your customers.
And be careful with branding, which usually exists in all pop-ups provided by services. Because you may end up promoting not your products but their service.
